I have returned finally from my epic USA adventure, which took me some 6,000 miles across the States and back again in an alarmingly short space of time following my 13-week job contract at French Woods Performing Arts Camp. Suffice to say I am absolutely exhausted and recovering at my parents’ house on the Isle of Man for the time being.
My original plan for September was to take up a place at Leeds College of Music but – alas – the current higher education funding situation has this year prevented me from doing so. As I keep explaining to those who enquire, I am in this for the long haul, and so it has not dissuaded me from my long-term career goals of performing at a professional level.
I hope to perform a concert in a month or so entitled ‘Songs From the New World’, a collection of American musical theatre and folk songs inspired by my trip away. The concert will be in Douglas, Isle of Man, and will feature solo voice (me!) and live accompaniment. Details to follow once the jet-lag has finally passed.
